SOBRE ABASTO Minimize

Until now, there has been a communication gap to the thousands of Hispanic business owners in the food industry.  Abasto is the only platform to bridge that gap.

And we've built a strong bridge.  Not only have we hired a top-notch writing and research staff, but we also have integrated experts in the Hispanic business community as well as members of Wake Forest University's Babcock School of Business as key contributors. This assimilation of talent yields a magazine worth reading for our audience.  They need us to grow their profits.

The magazine was developed to be the "must read" of every owner or manager involved with Hispanic foods.

Each and every article is designed to provide "best practice" principles of essential informaion on how to better run a business to increase profits.

We exist for one simple reason: To be the indispensable guide for the Hispanic food industry.

EL EQUIPO DE ABASTO Minimize

Francisco Camara, Editor in Chief
Francisco Camara
Editor In Chief

Born in Merida, Mexico, where he earned a BA in Social Communications, Francisco Camara began his news-writing career when he was only a sophomore in college, where he landed a job translating Associated Press stories for a local newspaper. His credentials came from spending several summers learning English at Camp Thunderbird, near Charlotte, North Carolina.

After graduation he moved to Cancun, a tourist destination where he could better apply his language skills. There, he was hired as an editor for the first locally produced edition of The Miami Herald International Edition

In 2000 he was asked to develop the editorial department of Que Pasa, a weekly Spanish-language newspaper serving the emerging Hispanic community of North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad region. During his seven-year tenure with the company, Que Pasa  grew from a single edition with a circulation of 12,000 to three editions that cover virtually all of North Carolina with a circulation of 85,000. He also developed the news department of Que Pasa’s six radio stations.

When Francisco was asked to become Editor-in-Chief of Abasto, he accepted immediately, seizing the opportunity to make a difference for the Hispanic food entrepreneur.

This media corporation, specializing in the Hispanic communities in key metropolitan areas in North Carolina, encompassed print and radio platforms for the Hispanic populations. During his tenure, Danny developed a new business model for major accounts, helped grow the business from one newspaper to three, and from one radio station to nine. In addition, he helped to create an in-house ad agency. He also worked pro bono with local and state agencies to help with special projects for this population.

Prior to that, he lived and worked in Argentina for 11 years, where he founded and nationalized four churches, taught at the Argentine Biblical Seminary, and served as a General Contractor for three church building projects.
